EYEWEAR E-COMMERCE / CASE STUDY

Nivox.

From finding a frame to checking out.

Nivox is a custom eyewear store built around the shopping experience. It connects product discovery, customer accounts, and checkout in one e-commerce project.

A working showcase store. Continue as demo to explore the storefront; your copy is private.

01 / THE BRIEF

The goal.

Build more than a set of shop pages: a complete customer journey from finding a frame to paying for it, with accounts, reviews and a journal.

MY CONTRIBUTION

My role.

I designed the storefront and developed the front end, back end, database structure, and the cart, checkout and order workflows.

02 / THE EXPERIENCE

What the project brings together.

01

Product discovery

Browse main categories and their subcategories, search products, and explore product images, descriptions, prices, and availability.

02

Customer experience

Favorites, product reviews, account access, saved addresses, and order history bring the browsing and account experience together.

03

Cart & checkout

Cart quantities, totals, discounts and US sales tax by delivery state are calculated on the server. The project includes address selection and Stripe Checkout integration, running in Stripe’s test mode.

04

Returns

Customers start a return from their account: choose a delivered order and its frames, and add photos if something arrived damaged. Refunds include the share of tax paid.

05

Category structure

A two-level category hierarchy gives each subcategory its own address and keeps products organized under the appropriate parent category.

06

Journal & support

A journal with categories, search and reader comments, and a live support chat for questions before and after an order.

03 / BEHIND THE INTERFACE

Engineering decisions.

Shared PHP components
Shared page components and separate request handlers organize the interface and processing logic for ongoing maintenance.
Relational data access
MySQL and PDO support the data layer, with parameterized queries in data operations. This is one part of the engineering approach, not a claim of complete security.
Clear catalog URLs
Readable product and category slugs make pages easier to navigate and share.
Private customer photos
Every uploaded picture is checked and redrawn on the server, so only pixels are stored. Photos on a return are not public files: only the customer and the store’s team can open them.

04 / WHAT’S NEXT

The same care, on today’s stack.

Nivox was built with PHP and MySQL. New projects, an eyewear store for a new brand included, are built with TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and Prisma ORM, with the same attention to design and detail.
